ESO & BACHILLERATO
ESO
Educación Secundaria Obligatoria (ESO), Compulsory Secondary Education, is a compulsory educational stage which completes the child’s basic education. It consists of four academic years which normally take place between the ages of 12 and 16.
It is organised according to common educational principles and related to the students’ diversity, focusing on his or her educational and professional orientation.
Its purpose is:
To have all students obtain the basic elements of a general knowledge: humanistic, artistic, scientific and technological.
To develop and consolidate study and work habits.
To prepare students for higher education and for insertion in the labour force.
To prepare everyone in the use of their rights and obligation as citizens.
At LAUDE San Pedro, we place great importance on languages. A high percentage of our subjects are taught in English and we also prepare our students for official exams.
Our ESO students enjoy classes in a British environment, which allows a faster development in the learning of the language.
1º-2º ESO
Students follow the Spanish ESO programme with a core of Maths, Spanish, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences together with some additional subjects (Drama, Food Technology, Robotics). Up to 65% of the subjects are taught in the English language so that students graduate with high levels of both English and Spanish.
3º-4º ESO
At this level, students follow the same programme, but the percentage of subjects taught in English decreases slightly to prepare them for Bachillerato. Students choose either Humanities or Sciences and both routes share core subjects: Spanish Language, History, and English.
Bachillerato
Bachillerato is part of post-compulsory secondary education and is therefore voluntary. It consists of two academic years which are normally completed between the ages of 16 and 18. It takes place in different modalities, is organised flexibly and, where appropriate, in different pathways.
Its aim is to:
- To provide students with training, intellectual and human maturity, knowledge and skills that enable them to develop social functions and to enter active life with responsibility and competence.
- To offer students a specialised preparation, in accordance with their training perspectives and interests, which will enable them to access higher education.
Educational activities in the baccalaureate will foster students’ ability to learn by themselves, to work in teams and to apply appropriate research methods.
Those who successfully complete the baccalaureate in any of its modalities will receive the title of Bachiller, which will have employment and academic effects.
At LAUDE San Pedro we offer the following modalities:
- Science and Technology
- Humanities and Social Sciences
